Acclaimed author and journalist Wil Haygood (Miami '76) will be the commencement speaker at Miami University's spring ceremony, 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at Yager Stadium. Haygood has been a Washington Post journalist since 2002.
Rob B. Anderson of Park Hills, Ky., is the winner of the 2013 Miami University Young Painters Competition for the $10,000 William (Miami '36) and Dorothy Yeck Award. Winners of the competition, sponsored by Miami's Hiestand Galleries, School of Creative Arts, were announced Jan. 25. Anderson was selected for his work "Kitchen."

Miami University's Task Force for the Prevention of Sexual Assault, commissioned by President David Hodge last semester, released its recommendations.
The 11th annual Baldwin Frontiers in Geology Lecture will be presented by Richard W. Carlson, staff scientist, department of terrestrial magnetism at the Carnegie Institution of Washington, 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 115 Shideler Hall. The lecture is titled, "History of Earth Formation."
