Recitals, keynote lecture by musicologist Richard Taruskin open Music and Power Conference Feb. 28

An international conference on "Music and Power," organized and sponsored by the Havighurst Center for Russian and Post-Soviet Studies, will be held at Miami University Feb. 28-March 2. The conference features special opening events Feb. 28 and a gala concert March 1 with internationally renowned Chinese violinist Bin Huang.


Jazz Ensemble concert features swing music Feb. 26

The Miami University Jazz Ensemble, directed by Jeremy Long, will perform "Basie Straight Ahead!" at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, in Hall Auditorium.

In memoriam: Richard A. Persinger

Richard A. Persinger, 70, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, in Liberty Ind. He retired from Miami University where he worked from 1963-1991 in the bursar's office.
