An international conference on "Music and Power," organized and sponsored by the Havighurst Center for Russian and Post-Soviet Studies, will be held at Miami University Feb. 28-March 2. The conference features special opening events Feb. 28 and a gala concert March 1 with internationally renowned Chinese violinist Bin Huang.
The Miami University Jazz Ensemble, directed by Jeremy Long, will perform "Basie Straight Ahead!" at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, in Hall Auditorium.

Richard A. Persinger, 70, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, in Liberty Ind. He retired from Miami University where he worked from 1963-1991 in the bursar's office.
