Our Facilities

Collaborative SpaceThe Discovery Center for Evaluation, Research, and Professional Learning is recognized nationwide for providing superior, research, evaluation, assessment, and professional development services to improve mathematics and science teaching and learning. To achieve its mission, the Center formally collaborates with peer institutions in Ohio and nationally, including the Evaluation Services Center (University of Cincinnati), the Voinovich School (Ohio University), Horizon Research, Inc., Inverness Research, and SRI International and taps the specific expertise of more than 30 state and national experts. The Center also strategically partners with individuals and institutions who have demonstrated the potential to make significant contributions to STEM teaching, learning, and assessment.

To accomplish its work, the Center maintains state-of-the-art computing and communications equipment and superior facilities, allowing Center staff to work efficiently on-site and in the field. The Discovery Center is located in a newly designed space, which is housed in 408 McGuffey Hall at Miami University (Oxford, OH). The space includes four private offices, nine cubicle-style workstations, and four open, collaborative-style workstations with over 25 networked computers (Mac and PC platforms) equipped with the most recent versions of quantitative and qualitative statistical software and publication programs. Center facilities also offer dedicated work room and meeting spaces to accommodate collaborative work efforts.

Research HubThe Discovery Center also is home to a specialized workspace for EHS and other faculty, staff, and graduate student researchers—the Faculty/Staff Research Hub. This workspace is equipped with computers and software to accommodate a range of research needs. Center staff are available to provide for technical support and consultation, as needed.
