Chris’s Bio

Chris’ past experiences in a variety of school settings as an inquisitive student and educator have been instrumental in developing his interest and expertise in educational evaluation and research. Chris has educator experience in rural, suburban, and urban schools as a teacher assistant at a mathematics/science center, middle- and high-school mathematics teacher, and district mathematics curriculum coordinator. Chris earned degrees from Western Michigan University (B.S. in Secondary Mathematics Education), Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville (M.S.Ed. in Educational Administration), and Miami University (Ph.D., anticipated 2016 in Educational Administration). Through these experiences, he gained appreciation for and curiosity about the contexts, issues, successes, and challenges facing PreK-16 education. Chris joined the Discovery Center (formerly Ohio’s Evaluation and Assessment Center) in 2009 as a Graduate Research Assistant, in 2012 became a Senior Research Associate, and in 2015 was promoted to a Senior Research Associate and Project Team Leader. Since 2009, Chris has increasingly become involved with local-, regional-, and state-level program evaluations funded by districts, counties, and the state. Most often employing mixed methodologies, Chris’ research interests are peaked at intersections of teacher development, mathematics education, community/district/school program implementation, central office leadership, and educator collaboration.
