Accreditation and Certification

Accreditation and certification provide assurance to students and prospective employers that our professional degree programs meet the highest standards. Two programs offered by the Department of Kinesiology and Health (KNH), athletic training and dietetics, are accredited by their respective professional organizations.

Graduates of KNH's athletic training and dietetics programs are eligible to apply for professional certification. This requires passing a national exam and in the case of dietetics also fulfilling a professional internship following graduation.

Accreditated programs:

  • Athletic Training Program: Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education- The program has been placed on Probation as of February 19, 2016 by the CAATE, 6850 Austin Center Blvd., Suite 100, Austin, TX 78731-3101.  This probation is based on our three-year aggregate first-time pass rate of 59% which does not meet the CAATE requirement of 70%.  We are striving to exceed the pass rate requirement.  This probation does not affect our current Athletic Training students' eligibility to sit for the Board of Certification (BOC) exam, nor does it prohibit admission of new students.
  • Dietetics Program: ACEND - Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics - The Dietetics program received the highest score possible (100%) in their most recent program review (May 2014).
