Accreditation and Certification

Accreditation and certification provide assurance to students and prospective employers that our professional degree programs meet the highest standards. Two programs offered by the Department of Kinesiology and Health (KNH), Athletic Training and Dietetics, are accredited by their respective professional organizations.

Graduates of KNH's athletic training and dietetics programs are eligible to apply for professional certification. This requires passing a national exam and in the case of dietetics also fulfilling a professional internship following graduation.

Accredited programs:

  • Athletic Training Program: Accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). Students who successfully complete this Athletic Training Program (ATP) will be qualified and eligible to take the Board of Certification (BOC) examination. The Athletic Training program had a 100% first-time pass rate for 2017.
  • Dietetics Program: ACEND - Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics - The Dietetics program had a 100% pass rate for 2018 meeting the ACEND requirements with commendation.
