Program Admission

Our application process is competitive and we receive many more applications than we can accept each year.  Please note that the School Psychology program admits only full-time students.  We strive to provide assistantship support to all of our students (see section on Graduate Assistantships).  Please see below for important application procedures.  We encourage students with cultural and individual diversity to apply to the program.

To be admitted to the School Psychology program, you must first apply to Miami University’s Graduate School. All application materials should be uploaded via your application portal.

Admissions Deadlines and Selection Process

Completed applications must be received by Jan. 15 to be considered for fall admission. In order to facilitate admission, you should submit all application materials prior to the deadline. You may check with Jennifer Turner, Administrative Assistant, at any time concerning missing items or the status of your application.

We are a competitive program and we typically accept 10-12 students per cohort.
Applicants are evaluated based on:

  • academic record
  • personal goals and fit with program aims
  • previous related work or experiences
  • letters of recommendation
  • GRE scores
  • interpersonal skills
School psychology faculty will begin to review applicants on or before the January 15th deadline. After the deadline, finalists will be selected and invited to interviews with faculty, staff, and current students in early February.  The on-campus interviews typically take place during an Interview Day, which consists of (1) an orientation to the program, (2) individual and group interviews with faculty, staff, and current students, (3) a tour of the McGuffey Hall facility and Miami University campus, and (4) a catered lunch. However, because we can only accomodate a limited number of on-campus interviewees, some students may be offered video conference interviews.  Final decisions about the acceptance of candidates for admission into the program will be made in February or March.
