Intervention Specialist Licensure

The Intervention Specialist Licensure program is designed for students who hold an existing teaching credential in any other discipline and are seeking to add an Ohio K-12 Mild-Moderate Intervention Specialist teaching license to their teaching credentials. Students should follow a prescribed plan of study created with the assistance of the SEOH program advisor. It may be completed in 1-1.5 years as a primarily part-time student. Students may also enroll in the program full-time. Students are allowed 5 full years to complete their program from the date of their program commencement. Credit hour requirements: 30.

The Ohio Department of Education requires a minimum of 12 semester hours of reading coursework (9 semester hours in the teaching of reading and 3 semester hours in the teaching of phonics). Methods I and II fulfill 6 of the 12 literacy hours. Additional reading courses regularly offered in the SEOH course format include:
