Special Education Spring Cohort Now Forming

The need for special education teachers remains strong across Ohio’s school districts. To help meet the demand for licensed intervention specialists, Miami’s Department of Educational Psychology is pleased to announce that its Special Education Online Hybrid (SEOH) graduate program is adding a second cohort in 2017.

In addition to a new group of students who began the program this fall, SEOH will also admit a spring 2017 semester cohort in March. “We’re excited to provide two entry points to the program. This allows us to develop more professionals with expertise in designing and implementing special education services for K-12 students. The additional cohort will also give students the opportunity to enter the field sooner – and that’s a win for both our graduates and the schools that will employ them,” said Dr. Jason Abbitt, SEOH program director.

SEOH is a part-time program offering pathways to K-12 Mild-Moderate Intervention Specialist licensure and a graduate degree in special education. It is available for licensed teachers, paraprofessional educators, and career changers transitioning to K-12 education. The SEOH program format includes coursework that is primarily web-based and asynchronous, but also includes regular live, synchronous class meetings at Miami University’s Voice of America Learning Center in West Chester, Ohio. Applications for the new spring cohort are now available.
