Dr. Larysa Bobrova, Coordinator

Larysa Bobrova

As a coordinator of the ELL WC, Larysa Bobrova’s goal is to support multilingual student writers and faculty. She received her Ph.D. from the Pennsylvania State University specializing in cognitive semantics and second language acquisition. Her teaching and scholarly interests lie in second language writing pedagogy and teacher education. She enjoys sharing innovative teaching strategies with faculty for teaching multilingual students. In her teaching, she aims to bring together rigorous theoretical enquiry with language pedagogy attempting to enhance learning process by making it both productive and enjoyable.

Writing Consultants

Our consultants are Miami undergraduate students from diverse majors and with a variety of interests.

Callie is a junior majoring in professional writing and environmental science and is working on her minor in Japanese. She is a member of Miami's new aerial arts club and hopes to hold a leadership position in the future. She enjoys writing and drawing in her spare time.

Claire is a junior double majoring in journalism and political science. On campus, she is involved with The Miami Student and Gamma Phi Beta sorority. When she’s not studying or writing for the newspaper, she can be found reading, going on runs, and hanging out with friends.

Fiona is a sophomore with a creative writing major and a minor in rhetoric writing. Once she graduates, she hopes to be published within a year and intends to pursue a master's degree. She is president of ACW and is a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community at Miami.

Halle is a junior political science major and is an active member in her sorority, Phi Sigma Sigma. She is also president of her ROTC club, Start Strong. She intends to be a lawyer where she will exercise her writing skills on daily basis. 

Ian is a junior majoring in speech pathology and audiology. He has studied Deaf culture and ASL academically and aspires to learn more about language development. He is a proud member of the Men's Glee Club and Tabletop Gaming Club.

Jazlyn is a junior with majors in linguistics and Spanish with a minor in statistical methods. She also takes Chinese classes at Miami and wants to learn multiple languages. She is part of the staff for a campus literary magazine, Happy Captive. She enjoys reading, playing badminton and exploring nature.

Justin is a junior majoring in linguistics with a minor in anthropology. He has several years of experience learning Spanish and, in the future, plans to develop his skills in Italian, French, German, and Greek. His interests and hobbies include movies, music, travel, fencing, fashion and design, as well as activities in nature such as birdwatching. After graduating, he plans to enter the National Park Service as a park ranger.

Madalyn is a sophomore with a major in speech pathology and audiology. She pursues her interest in language daily through her speech-aimed courses here at Miami. Once she graduates, she hopes to work as a pediatric speech-language pathologist, helping children work through and overcome speech/swallowing disorders.
