Interview No Show Policy

This policy applies to all On-Campus Interviews, daily Mock Interviews and Mock Interview events.

How To Cancel An Interview

If you scheduled your interview through Handshake, you must cancel through Handshake no later than 11:59 p.m. two business days prior to the interview to avoid penalty. The following table indicates cancellation deadlines:

  • Day of Interview is Monday, please cancel by midnight on preceding Thursday
  • Day of Interview is Tuesday, please cancel by midnight on preceding Friday
  • Day of Interview is Wednesday, please cancel by midnight on preceding Monday
  • Day of Interview is Thursday, please cancel by midnight on preceding Tuesday
  • Day of Interview is Friday, please cancel by midnight on preceding Wednesday

After The Deadline Has Passed

If the deadline has passed or if the interview was scheduled by means other than Handshake, call the Center for Career Exploration & Success (CCES) at (513) 529-3831 during regular business hours prior to the interview. If you miss an interview, you should always follow up with the appropriate person.

No Show/Late Cancellation Penalties

A missed interview due to a no show or a late cancellation not only reflects poorly on you, but upon our office and the University as well. It is also a waste of a valuable interview slot for both the recruiter and for another student who would have liked an interview but could not get on the schedule.

The following penalties will be imposed in the event you cancel an interview late or no show:

Late Cancellations During an Academic Year

1st Offense: No penalty is assessed but your Handshake account is noted.

2nd Offense: Your account is blocked from participating in the interviewing process until a signed, formal typewritten letter of apology to the employer or interviewer (in an addressed, stamped and unsealed envelope) is delivered to the front desk of the Career Center, located in the Armstrong Student Center. This must be completed within 30 days or your account is disabled for the duration of the academic year.

3rd Offense: Your account is permanently disabled and you will not have access to any Handshake features for the duration of the academic year. A meeting with the Assistant Vice President of CCES, or designee, is required.

No Shows During an Academic Year

Special Provision for Accountancy Students

The No Show/Late Cancellation Policy also applies to specific on-campus accountancy events, such as case competitions and leadership programs, for which students are pre-selected and/or which are limited to a specific number of students. This policy will be communicated to students during the initial kick-off meetings for applicable events.

Regarding leadership programs: if you accept an invitation to a leadership program but later determine that you are unable to attend, you must communicate this change to employers at least 30 days in advance of the leadership program. Employers will work with the Accountancy Department and FSB Careers to enforce the policy.

The Career Center retains the right to revise this policy at any time, for any reason. Policy revisions will be posted on the CCES website as soon as possible.
