Van Andel Gift Establishes Distinguished Professorship

February 2012

The Farmer School of Business announced that The Steve & Cindy Van Andel Foundation has given a $300,000 gift to establish the Steve Van Andel Distinguished Professorship, which will be used to support a top faculty member at the Farmer School. Mr. Van Andel, an alumnus of the Farmer School, is chairman of Amway, one of the world's largest direct-selling companies.

"This gift supports the core priority of the Farmer School," commented Dean Roger L. Jenkins. "Our differential core competency is undergraduate education and the Steve Van Andel Distinguished Professorship will help us attract and retain world-class faculty. I join the Farmer School faculty, staff and students in expressing our deep gratitude to Steve for his commitment to our vision."

Mr. Van Andel received his MBA from Miami University in 1979. He has returned to Miami as part of the Farmer School's Executive Speakers Series, which brings business leaders to campus to reflect upon their experiences and give students and faculty insights about how the executives think, lead and inspire.

This gift is another significant achievement in the $500 million Miami University Campaign For Love and Honor, which has raised more than $434 million in support of Miami's priority needs.
