Clearing Corporation Charitable Foundation Makes Second Significant Gift

A gift from the Clearing Corporation Charitable Foundation will help the Farmer School of Business attract top students seeking careers in finance.

Following on a similar gift made in spring 2010, the $100,000 gift will be used for merit scholarships for incoming freshmen who have been admitted to the Farmer School's Business Honors Program and who intend to major in finance. Farmer School alumnus Jim McCormick ('68), who serves as a director of the foundation, facilitated the gift. Mr. McCormick is President and CEO of TransMarket Group, LLC in Chicago. He has been a loyal supporter of the Farmer School, including past service on the school's Business Advisory Council.

"Attracting the best and brightest students is a priority for us," said Roger L. Jenkins, dean of the Farmer School of Business. "Jim McCormick understands the competition among universities for top students and how critical merit scholarships are in that effort. We're very grateful for Jim's leadership and support."

This gift is another significant achievement toward the $500 million Miami University Campaign For Love and Honor, which has raised more than $435 million in support of Miami's priority needs.
