Miami's Pi Sigma Epsilon Chapter Ranked First in Nation

March 2012

The Miami University Gamma Gamma chapter of Pi Sigma Epsilon is ranked first in the nation going into the organization's annual conference. The conference will be held March 12-18 in Indianapolis.

Pi Sigma Epsilon is a national co-ed fraternal organization focused on preparing members to excel in marketing, sales and sales management. Each year chapters across the nation score points on a Chapter Efficiency Index (CEI) designed to help them operate at a maximum potential. The Index is a valuable tool in measuring local performance and serves as a means of recognizing chapters across regions. The Miami team accumulated over 51,000 points in the CEI standings, leading the pack by more than 10,000 points. The second place school, University of NC - Wilmington, finished with just over 40,000 points. This is the first time the Gamma Gamma chapter has been ranked first in the standings in the past five years.

The chapter met with great success over the last year. They raised over $12,000 in profit through numerous marketing projects, ensuring the continuation and health of the organization, while offering members valuable real-world experience. The group was also able to raise $15,000 for charity through seven initiatives. Overall, the participation in the charitable activities of the group increased 20% year over year. Professional development, for both Pi Sigma Epsilon members and Farmer School students as a whole, remained an overarching focus. The group created a position for a V.P. of Professional Development and hosted workshops with Deloitte and Nielsen, among other prestigious international companies.

At Miami, the Gamma Gamma Chapter is the third largest student organization on campus, including approximately 1% of the entire student body. The chapter has been recognized numerous times as a leader in the national Pi Sigma Epsilon fraternity. Gamma Gamma has been named top chapter 8 times since 1998. The Miami chapter was founded in 1975.
