Farmer School's PSE Chapter Named Top in Nation

For nine out of the last 14 years, Miami University's Gamma Gamma chapter of Pi Sigma Epsilon in the Farmer School of Business has been named the top chapter in the nation. This year they continued their winning streak, once again earning the Lewis F. Gordon Top Gold Chapter Award at the 2012 PSE National Convention. Miami's team competed alongside 70 chapters from across the nation. The award recognizes the high quality of the chapter's projects and leadership operations.

"The exceptional accomplishments of our PSE chapter continue to lead the nation with distinction and honor," said Farmer School Dean Roger L. Jenkins, the Mitchell P. Rales Chair in Business Leadership. "Its members truly demonstrate the highest level of achievement and leadership and I sincerely salute their excellence."

The PSE group earned an array of awards in addition to the Lewis F. Gordon Top Gold Chapter Award:

  • Top Service Project led by Amy Halpern for the Harry Trotter 5k Run which raised over $3,200 for Dance Marathon.
  • Top Market Research Project led by Adrian Amrine for Ghent, where the team successfully conducted qualitative research using multiple focus groups.
  • Top Marketing Project led by Brian Cooper, for their work with Spikeball, a California originated game similar to volleyball looking to expand on college campuses.
  • Whan Challenge Award, recognition of PSE's top leader was bestowed on chapter President Maggie Byrne for her inspired leadership during the past year.
  • PSE's Corporate Video Challenge Winner, credited to Colten Kidwell, who created a video on the importance of PSE's corporate sponsors.
  • Top Project Manager Runner-Up awarded to Christine Demane and Kate Schumacher for their Campus Menus work.
  • Top Management Team Runner-Up awarded to the members of the executive board for dedication throughout the year.
  • Scholarships awarded to three outstanding members: Nicole Onorato, Kate Schumacher and Ryan Boes.

Faculty advisor Dr. Don Norris spoke of the chapter's continued success, noting that this is the 14th consecutive year Gamma Gamma was a Top Chapter finalist.  "This is the ninth win for the chapter but it has been three years since we last returned the trophy, "Lew", to Oxford."

President Maggie Byrne, also commended the chapter's efforts at the convention. "The chapter's hard work throughout the year really set us apart from the competition.  I cannot be more proud of our members at the National Convention and I'm excited to see how the chapter continues to develop and excel in the future."
