Dan Ruffley Awarded Supply Chain Scholarship

April 2012

Dan Ruffley, a Supply Chain and Operations major, has been awarded the R. Gene Richter Scholarship which is given by the Institute of Supply Management. The scholarship program is the largest nationally recognized program in the field of supply management.

The award selection is based on four aspects of performance: high academic achievement, leadership ability based on campus involvement, high ethical standards and evidence of commitment to obtaining a career in supply chain. The recipient's skills and qualifications are measured through examination of transcripts, essay submissions and personal interviews. Participation in the Campus Institute of Supply Management is a looked upon favorably as evidence of interest in ongoing involvement in supply chain activities.

The benefits of winning the scholarship include $5,000 to be used toward education and enrollment in a mentoring program. The mentoring aspect pairs winners with an executive in supply management who had previously won the award.

Recipients are also invited to attend the Annual International Supply Management Conference sponsored by the Institute of Supply Management in Baltimore. Winners of the Richter Scholarship will be guests of honor at a special awards presentation dinner on May 6.
