Departmental Notes:

  • A 2.0 GPA is required in all ECO courses to graduate.
  • Students must complete at least 9 hours of Advanced Economics (above 300 level) at Miami, including ECO 315 and 317.
  • The major requires 15 hours of ECO Electives, at least 6 of those hours must be in courses that require ECO 315 or 317 as a pre-requisite (known as ECO Adv. Electives and numbered 410 or above).
    • ECO Electives include the following: ECO 301, 321, 325, 331, 332, 342, 344, 347, 356, 361, 373, 385, 405, 406, and 407.
    • Advanced ECO Electives include the following: ECO 411, 414, 418, 423, 427, 441, 442, 451, 461, 462, and 465.
  • ECO 405 may satisfy the Business Capstone and ECO Elective requirement.
  • It is strongly advised that students do not take ECO 315 and 317 in the same semester.

General Requirements:

  • Must earn 124 hours to graduate; minimum of 52 hours of non-business coursework required.
  • 2.0 GPA overall and 2.0 GPA in business required to graduate.
  • FSB students must select a non-business thematic sequence (some exceptions - consult your advisor).
  • Pre-requisite information available in the Miami Bulletin.
  • Diversity courses may meet GMP Intercultural Perspectives.
  • Most FSB students satisfy GMP Experiential Learning with an internship; students must register for ECO 340 or 340W to complete this requirement.
