Online and Hybrid Enrollment

Online Enrollment Outside U.S.

Federal and state regulations provide that Miami University can only offer online or hybrid courses in those states in which it is authorized to do so. In order to comply with these requirements it is necessary for Miami to determine where you will be physically located while taking online or hybrid course(s).

After registering for online or hybrid courses, students will receive an email with a link to a form that requires them to indicate whether they will be in the U.S. or abroad when they take these courses.

ISSS also requires information regarding your online enrollment status during fall and spring semesters due to the impact on eligibility for F-1 or J-1 status. If you are currently in the U.S. in active F-1 or J-1 status, you must make arrangements for departure prior to the term of online study. Your legal status will be terminated due to your online enrollment.

Process to report online study plan

  1. Log in to InterLink.
  2. Navigate to Other Student Services.
  3. Select Online Enrollment Outside U.S. Report and complete the e-form.

Health Insurance

If you enroll at Miami University, you are automatically enrolled in health insurance and billed each semester. By submission of the Online Enrollment Outside U.S. Report eform, your health insurance charge will be waived provided your request is submitted in a timely manner.

Insurance waiver requests must be submitted on a biannual basis (every fall and spring).

  • Fall: The recommended deadline to submit a request is August 1 and the final deadline is August 31.
  • Spring: The recommended deadline is January 15 and the final deadline is January 31.
