The Confucius Institute held a variety of Chinese cultural workshops for Miami University’s Institute for Learning in Retirement throughout the months of April and May. These workshops offered stress relief and health remedies through various aspects of Chinese culture.

There were a total of five workshops, one each week. Each was centered around a different theme including Chinese tea, Chinese calligraphy and painting, traditional Chinese instruments and music, Chinese stretching, and Chinese cooking.

Around 18 participants explored how much traditional Chinese culture can do for pain and stress release.

“Thanks again for an awesome five-week series on wellness and stress release in Chinese culture,” said Sharon and Frank Chapman, two participants in the program.

Marcia Waller, another participant in the program, also enjoyed the workshops.

“Thank you for your excellent presentations,” Waller said. “[The presentations] have been very interesting and enjoyable. We appreciate your hard work very much.”
