Travel Background

My oldest brother taught English in France when I was in high school, and I got to visit his small town in the countryside. I was fascinated by French culture and history and continued studying the language when I got home. In undergrad, I spent an incredible semester studying in Paris. After graduation, I went back to France and taught in the same town as my brother! I recently experienced a different part of the French-speaking world when I completed an internship at a business school in Montreal. I’ve been lucky enough to travel extensively throughout Western Europe, but I’m always looking to go to new places - next on my list are Cuba, Iceland, and Senegal.

Travel Tip

Eat as much authentic, local food as you can. Food is an important part of culture, and who doesn’t love finding a new favorite? If you’re staying with a host family, ask if you can help cook a meal. If you’re in independent housing or traveling, going to the local market is a great way to get fresh ingredients and practice your language skills!
