Safety and Security

Miami University is situated in the quaint town of Oxford, Ohio where the Oxford Police Department works in conjunction with Miami University’s Police Department to provide a safe environment for all campus guests.

Campus Security Options

Event Security

The nature of your event may require paid security specific to your group. Your event planner will consult on university requirements and assist with arranging for the necessary services.

Conference Guest Safety

Optional security detail can be arranged to meet your group’s needs. Whether requesting 24-hour bell desk for residence halls, customized patrols for event management, or our team addressing your group to prioritize personal safety, your planner can find the right mixture of services for your group.

Emergency Text Messaging for Conference Guests

Miami University contracts with e2Campus to provide emergency notification services to the university community via cell phone text messages and email. Conference and Event Services planners can enroll your planning staff, event facilitators, or camp personnel to receive the same messages made available to university members for the duration of your event, conference, or camp.

Blue Light Emergency System

There are over 20 blue light emergency kiosks throughout campus. If someone is in need of help, they can reach Miami University Police Department with a touch of a button. These kiosks light up blue at night, making it easier to find help when needed.
