More national gold for Miami's housing and dining services

Miami University won gold, silver and bronze awards and an honorable mention in the large school category of the 2010 Loyal E. Horton Dining Awards sponsored by the National Association of College and University Food Services (NACUFS). Miami received the most honors in the competition and will compete for a grand prize during the national conference held this July. 

Miami’s housing, dining and guest services department received the following honors: 

  • A gold award for La Mia Cucina in the category of “Retail Sales-Single Stand Alone Outlet.” La Mia Cucina will compete for a grand prize against other gold winners from the same category at the national conference in July. 
  • A silver award for Dividend$ in the Farmer School of Business, in the category of “Retail Sales-Multiple Concepts/Outlets.” 
  • A bronze award went to Carillon Catering in the “Catering-Standard Menu” category. 
  • An honorable mention was awarded for “Residence Hall Theme Dinner” for the Chinese New Year Celebration held in February.

In addition to these awards, Miami recently received a 2010 NACUFS Best in the Business award for innovation in a food service operation with the Dividend$ operation. 

Last year, Miami University won two gold awards and one honorable mention in the large school category of the 2009 Loyal E. Horton Dining Awards. The two gold awards each won the grand prize for their respective categories. 

Since 2004 Miami’s housing, dining and guest services has received seven grand prizes, 13 gold awards, six silvers, five bronze, one third place and five honorable mentions. In the retail convenience store category, two Best in the Business awards have been received. Two first-place awards have also been received in the vegan recipe contest as well as a third-place award for a local foods recipe contest.
