Performing Arts Series: Speak Theatre Arts' "N*W*C: The Race Show"

Oct 01, 2010

Miami University's Performing Arts Series presents Speak Theater Arts' award-winning hip-hop comedy of race and tolerance, "N*GGER WETB*CK CH*NK: The Race Show," at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 6, in Hall Auditorium.

Three young actors, of different ethnicities, have created a hip-hop send-up of their personal struggle to craft an assured personal identity while living in America’s middle class culture.

Ensemble and monologue work are woven together with slam poetry, stand-up comedy, and hip-hop elements.

The performers will be at Miami several days participating in curricular-based workshops on the themes of N*W*C, which are central to creating opportunities for dialogue about the power and danger of racial stereotyping.

“N*W*C: The Race Show” is sponsored by the Center for American and World Cultures, Global Fusion Diversity Board of the Campus Activities Council and the Talawanda-Miami Partnership, with funding from the Ohio Arts Council.

Tickets are $16 for adults, $15 for senior citizens and $8 for students and youth. For tickets or more information, go to http://arts.muohio.edu/perfoming-arts-series.
