Anna Dollár receives Outstanding Teacher Award from ASEE
Mar 22, 2011Anna Dollár, associate professor of mechanical and manufacturing engineering
at Miami University, has been named Outstanding Teacher of the Year by
the North Central Section of the American Society for Engineering
Education (ASEE). She will be presented with the award at the North
Central Section ASEE Conference in Mt. Pleasant, Mich., April 2.
The award, which focuses on outstanding classroom performance, recognizes teachers of engineering and engineering technology students and serves as an incentive to make further significant contributions to teaching.
Dollár exemplifies the qualities needed to be an outstanding
teacher, according to the ASEE. She "ties her teaching to a
well-developed and thoughtful teaching philosophy as well as to her
research and professional development. She demonstrates a true
commitment to continuous quality improvement and has developed effective
techniques that apply her vision of teaching objectives and goals,
teaching styles, integrating teaching and research, and classroom
assessment."
She has received other awards for her teaching including the Miami University E. Phillips Knox Teaching Award; Miami’s School of Engineering and Applied Science
Teaching Excellence Award (2004); the University Excellence in Teaching
Award from the Illinois Institute of Technology (1998); and the Barnett
Excellence in Teaching Award (1996).
