Miami alumni return for weekend of friends and memories
Jun 16, 2011Miami University welcomes alumni to Oxford June 16-19 as it kicks off Alumni Weekend: Your campus, Your Friends, Your Memories. Officials prepare for a total of 1,700 guests throughout the weekend and invite the Oxford community to join in the festivities.
This year, a new Uptown Welcome Back Party, 6 -10:30 p.m. Friday, June 17, at the Uptown Parks, invites alumni and the Oxford community to an evening of music, dancing and connecting. Food will be available for purchase and there will be activities for children. The Campus Owls Tribute Band performs at 6:30 p.m. and D.J. Toad performs at 9:30 p.m.
Events also include class reunions, such as the milestone years of 50 and 60 years (Class of 1961 and 1951), and the more recent five- and ten-year classes whose members show an increase of registrations from previous years. Once again, Miami’s Alumni College provides mini classes that are taught by faculty and cover a wide variety of timely subjects.
A Parade of Classes begins at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, June 18, at Miami’s Hub, and MiamiFest begins at 6:30 p.m. in Central Quad. Tickets for food and musical entertainment are $25 per person, or $10 for a music only ticket. More information is available at www.MiamiAlum.org/AlumniWeekend.
