Miami University won a grand prize, a gold and a silver award in the
large school category of the 2011 Loyal E. Horton Dining Awards
competition sponsored by the National Association of College and

highest honors in collegiate foodservice.
Grand-prize winners were announced at the NACUFS National Conference July 16 in Dallas; judging took place April 28-30 by foodservice professionals from the more than 550 institutions that make up NACUFS.
Miami’s housing, dining, recreation and business services department received the following honors:
• A grand prize and a gold prize for Bell Tower Place, in the category “Retail Sales-Multiple Concepts/Marketplace.” The grand-prize winner was selected from among all other gold winners from the same category.
• A silver prize for its Panache restaurant, in the category “Retail Sales-Single Concept.”
• An honorable mention for Carillon Catering, Bill Nye special event, in the category “Catering-Special Event.”
Since 2004, Miami has won a total of 50 culinary awards, including nine grand prizes and 15 gold prizes, in the Loyal E. Horton Dining Awards competition — more than any other university in North America, according to Nancy Heidtman, director of dining and culinary support services.
