Theatre department offers ‘All’s Well That Ends Well’

The department of theatre will present “All’s Well That Ends Well” by William Shakespeare at 8 p.m. Nov. 16-18 and Nov. 30-Dec. 2 and at 2 p.m. Dec. 3 in Gates-Abegglen Theatre in the Center for Performing Arts.

The eighth annual John D. Yeck Production is a bittersweet comedy that explores love and war, and love as war, and leaves us wondering if a good end can make up for a bad beginning.

Directed by Roger Bechtel (theatre), the production will update the setting from Shakespeare’s early 17th century France to Europe in the early 20th century.

The simmering national conflicts between France, Italy and Austria referred to in Shakespeare’s text here becomes World War I, the “Great War.” The production’s style also draws on fashion and jazz of the roaring ’20s.

Tickets, $9 for adults, $8 for seniors and $6 for Miami students and youth under 18, are available at the box office, 9-3200, or online,
