Gene Willeke honored by governor
Gene Willeke, director emeritus of Miami’s Institute of Environmental Sciences, was honored Oct. 21 with a Proclamation signed by Governor Bob Taft.
The Proclamation states, “Dr. Willeke, your extraordinary career and exemplary life have influenced hundreds, and perhaps thousands of people through your work with the federal government and then with thirty-six years of university teaching at Stanford University, Georgia Institute of Technology, and Miami University; not to mention the numerous boards and panels you have been a member of. You have been an extraordinary asset to the people of the State of Ohio and an inspiration to us all.”
It was presented by Michael Ahern, a graduate of IES and manager, Ohio EPA, Division of Air Pollution Control.
