Oxford International Film Festival April 5-8
The first Oxford International Film Festival (OIFF) continues to accept entries for the four-day competitive festival that will be held April 5-8 at the Marcum Conference Center. Festival organizers, including Miami students, report they have received more than 390 entries from 36 countries including New Zealand, Spain, South Korea, Malaysia, Iran, Turkey and Singapore.
The festival, open to the public, will screen more than 70 independent films. Also included will be an opening night gala, filmmaker panels, workshops, a 24-hour film competition and an awards ceremony where thousands of dollars in cash prizes will be awarded.
Film submissions are accepted in all lengths and genres until the Feb. 25 deadline. For submission information, visit www.oxfordfilms.com/oiff.
Registration is also open for the OIFF 24-hour film competition, a high-energy event where teams of filmmakers race to produce a completed short-film in a specific 24-hour period during the festival. The finished products will be shown at the festival and voted on at the end of the 24-hour duration. A cash prize will be awarded to the winning team. Application forms are available at the festival’s Web site and must be received by March 16.
A full program and list of guests scheduled to attend will be released on March 5. Individuals may pre-order all event passes. Both individual event tickets and all event passes will go on sale to the public on March 5.
For more information or to pre-order tickets, call the box office at 9-3200 or reserve tickets online at www.oxfordfilms.com/oiff.
