Coordinating Council issues Final 2009 Report

The First in 2009 Coordinating Council issued its final report with recommendations looking toward Miami ’s future. For the last six years, the council and its task forces have worked to identify, study and recommend action steps in all areas of university life..

The council suggests “engagement” as the framework for the university’s future.

According to the Council’s report, the “Engaged University” has three fundamental components: being accessible to all citizens; thinking deeply and creatively about how students and faculty are engaged in scholarly, creative and intellectual pursuits on campus; and envisioning connections to both local and global communities that are embodied in meaningful relationships of working together to improve the common good.

Goals in the areas of accessibility, engagement on campus and engagement with the community and world are included in the report, which is found on Pages 1B-4B in this issue.

Additional printed copies of the report are available in the university secretary’s office, 205 Roudebush Hall.
