CPAC project aids children

The classified personnel advisory committee (CPAC) urges the Miami and Oxford community to support its 2007 Holiday Project. This marks the 12th year for raising funds to purchase holiday gifts for children in the foster care system, who would otherwise not receive presents. All proceeds are used to purchase gifts for 140 children, ages newborn to 18 years, through PARACHUTE, Butler County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) and Children and Family Services, Preble County GAL (Guardian ad Litem).

“One adult can really make a huge difference in a child’s life, especially if that home life is abusive and dangerous,” says Beverly Flaig, master administrative assistant in development and a CPAC member. “Studies show that children assigned CASA/GAL volunteers have fewer moves while in foster placement, receive more services, are visited more and end up in safe, permanent homes quicker.”

The deadline is Dec. 6. Collections from departments or personal gifts payable to CPAC Holiday Project may be sent to Linda Knowles, IT services, 312 Hoyt Hall.

“Every contribution, large and small, makes a huge impact in these children’s lives,” Flaig says.
