Geology awarded $495,000 geophysical software grant
A grant for more than $495,000 in geophysical software from Landmark Graphics Corp. was recently awarded to Miami’s department of geology. The award, made through Landmark’s University Software Program, provides GeoGraphix Discovery software for 10 workstations in the department of geology computer lab, as well as a three-year contract for software maintenance, training, and technical support.
The Landmark grant “provides our students with cutting-edge software to assist in coursework and research involving sedimentology, stratigraphy, basin analysis, and petroleum geology,” says Brian Currie (geology). “Familiarity with GeoGraphix also gives students an added advantage with potential employers since the software is utilized by so many companies in the oil and gas industry.”
Landmark is the leading supplier of software and computation services for the oil and gas industry. The company’s software solutions span exploration, production, drilling, business-decision analysis, and data management.
