Miami grad student wins nature photography scholarship
Molly Steinwald, a doctoral student in zoology, has been awarded a nature photography scholarship from the North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA). She is one of 10 recipients selected in an international competition for the scholarship, worth up to $2,500, to attend the 2008 NANPA Summit and College Student Program.
Steinwald, who has not been formally trained in photography, works with adviser Susan Hoffman, associate professor of zoology, on research in wildlife genetics.
NANPA (www.nanpa.org) is the first and only association in North America committed solely to serving the field of nature photography. It promotes the art and science of nature photography as a medium of communication for nature appreciation and environmental protection.
