Versatile musicians Polygraph Lounge to perform Feb. 9

Polygraph Lounge performs Feb. 9
Polygraph Lounge will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, in Hall Auditorium, part of the Miami University Performing Arts Series.

Polygraph Lounge is composed of musicians Rob Schwimmer, Mark Stewart and soprano Melissa Fathman. Schwimmer and Stewart are well known in the rock and new music scene. The duo has performed and/or recorded with artists including Paul Simon, Laurie Anderson, Wayne Shorter, Bang on a Can, Meredith Monk, Steve Reich, Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Queen Latifah, Bette Midler and The Everly Brothers.

Polygraph Lounge originally worked in New York's lower East side on musical collaborations mixing classical, rock and pop styles. The group reworked "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" as Gregorian chant, "Swan Lake" in a pop guitar style and the theme from "The Good, The Bad and the Ugly" on nose flutes with audience participation. Alicia Zuckerman writing in New York Magazine said, "If you pine for one more Spike Jones, Firesign Theatre or Tom Lehrer, get yourself to the BAMCafe this weekend. The zany, musically tight and lyrically brilliant Polygraph Lounge has been enlisted as comic relief."

Polygraph Lounge's performance at Miami is presented with funding, in part, by the Ohio Arts Council. Tickets are $14 for adults, $13 for senior citizens and $7 for students and youth. Order tickets online at or call the box office, 9-3200.
