Miami University junior Joshua McIntire is one of 21 college students across the nation to receive the Beinecke Scholarship.

The Beinecke Foundation provides scholarships to undergraduate students who they believe to have exceptional promise in pursuing graduate studies. The program encourages and enables highly motivated students to pursue opportunities available to them and to select courageous graduate courses of study. Each scholarship winner will receive $4,000 before entering a graduate program and then get an additional $30,000 while attending graduate school.

McIntire is a junior, history major and honors student from New Concord, he plans to study the Italian Renaissance while attending graduate school.

According to McIntire’s nominators, “Joshua is guided by an authentic passion for inquiry and has spent his time at Miami undertaking a rigorous slate of courses and co-curricular opportunities that he believes will help him reach his life’s goal of becoming a first-rate historian.”
