Faculty member awarded fellowship to Simon Dubnow Institute

Sven-Erik Rose, assistant professor of French and Italian and member of the Jewish studies program at Miami University, has been awarded a residential fellowship to the Simon Dubnow Institute for Jewish History and Culture at Leipzig University for May-June, 2010.

Rose’s research focuses on Jewish literature and cultural history in Germany and France from the Enlightenment to the present, as well as on Jewish American immigrant literature and representations of the Holocaust. He is currently working on a book Jewish Subjects: Jews and Subjectivity in German Literature and Philosophy 1789-1848.

The Simon Dubnow Institute has a central emphasis on research, investigating in particular the mutual relations between the Jews in Eastern and Western Europe and in the context of their non-Jewish environment.
