Mila Ganeva receives award for best article

Mila Ganeva, Miami University associate professor in the German, Russian and East Asian languages department (GREAL), has received the Best Article Prize 2009 granted by the German Studies Association (GSA) and the Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst (DAAD).

The award was presented to Ganeva at the 33rd German Studies Association conference that took place Oct. 8-11 in Washington, DC.

Ganeva’s article titled, “Weimar Film as Fashion Show: Konfektionskomödien or Fashion Farces from Lubitsch to the End of the Silent Era,” was published in May 2007 in the German Studies Review, a scholarly journal created by GSA.

The Best Article Prize for the humanities category is awarded in odd-numbered years. All articles issued in the scholarly journal within the preceding two years are eligible. Ganeva’s article won over hundreds of participating and competing articles in the field of humanities.

The German Studies Review is published three times a year and includes articles and book reviews that focus on history, literature, culture studies, political science and interdisciplinary themes. It is published both in German and in English.
