Information bulletin: Off-campus assault


To the Miami Community,

Please be aware: Oxford police say a male student reported being assaulted by a white male while walking in the 5500 block of Fairfield Rd. approximately 2:20 a.m. Saturday morning, Nov. 7.

The suspect reportedly parked and exited a white pickup truck, approached the student and began hitting him. The student yelled loudly and the suspect stopped and left the area in an unknown direction.

The student did not sustain serious injury. The suspect is described as a large white male wearing a beanie cap.

Police remind students not to walk alone at night and to make use of the university’s safe transportation options:

• Use the free Nighttime Door-to-Door service (6 p.m. until 2 a.m. M-W and until 4 a.m. Th-Sun). Call (513) 593-2716 for this service.
• Use the free Miami Metro (until 1 a.m. Sun-Th and until 3 a.m. F-Sat).

If you have information about this incident please contact Oxford police at 524-5240. If you see someone acting suspiciously, please call 911 immediately.
