In memoriam: Dwight Cleveland Black


Dwight Cleveland "Cleve" Black, 74, of College Corner, died Monday, Nov. 9. He worked at Miami University for 32 years as a custodian in the physical facilities department.

Black enlisted in the United States Army in 1954. Upon returning from his station in Germany, he served for two years in the United States Army Reserves. An active member of College Corner United Methodist Church, he was proud of his contributions on mission trips to St. John's Island, Red Bird Mission and Africa, where he helped build a school. He was also active with the Red Cross of Preble and Butler counties for over 30 years.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia "Ann" (Hamilton) Black; his children, Frederick Curtis Black of College Corner, and Christine Marie Black of Oxford; and a sister, Sherrie Kendrick of College Corner.
