Southwestern Ohio Symphonic Band performs Dec. 6


The Southwestern Ohio Symphonic Band will perform its annual holiday concert at Miami University Middletown at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 6, in the Dave Finkelman Auditorium. Arrive early to hear Christmas selections performed by a brass ensemble. This event is free and open to the public.

Composed by band member David Shaffer, “Princeton Variations” will be conducted by Sam D. Reynolds, retired Princeton High School director of bands, who is currently serving as a visiting instructor in the department of music in Oxford.

Selections will include, Alfred Reed’s “Russian Christmas,” Andre’ Jutras’ “C’est Noel,” Newell H. Long’s “Christmas Rhapsody,” Percy Grainger’s “Handel in the Strand,” Clifton Williams’ “Castle Gap,” Robert Dwyer Joyce’s “The Boys of Wexford” and Morton Gould’s “When Johnny Comes Marching Home.”
