Miami student awarded Minority Biophysicists Travel Grant

Lauren Regueyra, a senior engineering physics major at Miami University, has been awarded a Minority Biophysicists Travel Grant to attend the 2010 Biophysical Society Annual Meeting in San Francisco, Feb. 20-24.

Minority travel awards for up to $1,000 are nationally competitive with selection based on scientific merit.

Regueyra will present a poster, “Pressure Effects on the Solvent Denaturation of NADH,” based on research she conducted with her faculty mentor, Paul Urayama, Miami associate professor of physics.

Regueyra was a 2009 Undergraduate Summer Scholar and is a 2009-2010 College of Arts and Science Dean’s Scholar, working with Urayama. She is also a College Ambassador for the College of Arts and Science.
