John Skillings, former dean of the College of Arts and Science and associate provost for Miami, has been named special assistant to the president for enrollment management.
“This position was created to bring a sustained focus to this vital function and to better integrate the various university organizations that contribute to our ability to set and meet our enrollment targets,” said President David Hodge, who named Skillings.
Effective immediately, both the offices of admission and financial assistance will report directly to Skillings. He will also chair the Steering Committee on Enrollment Management with the understanding that this group will play an active and continuous role in addressing issues of enrollment management.
Both the Admissions Advisory Committee and a consultant for financial aid strategies recommended that Miami create an appropriate permanent structure for enrollment management, similar to leading higher education institutions, Hodge said.
Faculty and staff are encouraged to share any thoughts on enrollment management directly with Skillings.
