"Wall" to come down and be recycled in online auction

The "Wall" created by Miami architecture students.
Just as the Berlin Wall fell 20 years ago, the commemorative "Wall" now on display at Miami University's Slant Walk will be dismantled next week and its parts recycled by selling the 4' x 8' painted panels separately in an online auction.

Architecture students enrolled in Sergio Sanabria's studio sponsored by the Havighurst Center for Russian Studies designed the "Wall" that will be auctioned on eBay beginning Wednesday, Dec. 9, and ending Wednesday, Dec. 16.

"As part of the sustainable recycling of its materials that was part of the initial program, we have decided to auction our painted panels as was done with those of the original Berlin Wall,” said Sanabria, associate professor of architecture and design.

The panels can be searched under the user name ‘berlinmaurer.’ The panels can be mounted and displayed easily and will be available for pickup after Dec. 16.
