Information bulletin: Off-campus assault


To the Miami Community,

Please be aware: Oxford police say a female student reported that a male subject who she did not know followed her into her apartment in the 300 block of S. Poplar St. and assaulted her sometime between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. Saturday morning, December 12.

The suspect reportedly struck her repeatedly before leaving in an unknown direction. The student did not sustain serious injury, but was treated at the hospital.

The suspect is described as a college-aged black male, about 6 feet tall, with a shaved head.

Police remind everyone not to walk alone at night and to make use of the university’s safe transportation options:
· Use the free Nighttime Door-to-Door service (6 p.m. until 2 a.m. M-W and until 4 a.m. Th-Su). Call (513) 593-2716 for this service.

· Use the free Miami Metro (until 1 a.m. Su-Th and until 3 a.m. F-Sa).
