Darcy Donahue receives national book award

Dorothy "Darcy" Donahue, associate professor of Spanish and Portuguese and women studies at Miami University, received the Best Translation/Teaching Edition Award for her book, Ana de San Bartolome, Autobiography and Other Writings (2008), from the Society for the Study of Early Modern Women (EMW).

Donahue’s volume presents translations of writings by Ana de San Bartolome, an activist in the spread of the Discalced monastic movement across Europe. EMW committee members describe Donahue’s volume of translated writings as “important as examples of early modern monastic autobiography, prayer and public lectures … a gripping story, eloquently translated and furnished with informative notes and a biographical chronology.”
