Miami University's Employee Health & Well-Being and benefit services introduce a new personal wellness profile and comprehensive health screening service at no cost for benefit-eligible employees.
Third-party vendor HealthWorks will provide confidential services that include personal wellness profiles, blood chemistry profiles and complete blood count, blood pressure screening and body mass index. Other optional screenings will be available for a cost. Some of those include prostrate specific antigen, thyroid profile, colon cancer kit, and hemoglobin A1-C.
“We are very excited about bringing this educational opportunity to our employees,” says Jay Kimiecik, director of Employee Health & Well-Being. “In the past few years, Miami has made significant strides in creating a culture of health awareness among faculty and staff. The personal wellness profile and health screening is the next step in that process. By participating, employees will be helping themselves be more proactive with their own health and contribute to the overall health of the university."
“This fall, we sent out an employee interest survey to all Miami University employees in order to learn more about their interests and needs for future health programming,” says Marlene Diers, assistant director of Employee Health & Well-Being. “Sixty four percent of survey respondents said that they were interested in participating in a personal wellness profile and health screening if we offered it on campus, so we expect that this will be well received.”
Screening events begin in February and registration is required. Visit www.cincyhealthworks.com to sign up for an appointment. Click “Schedule an Appointment,” then choose Miami University by location and select your date and appointment time.
Participation is voluntary. Benefit-eligible employees who participate can do so at no cost if they provide the name and address of their physician to whom HealthWorks will send a copy of the lab results. All test results and personal responses to the personal wellness profile are HIPAA-protected information.
