The Miami University Performing Arts Series hosts its 20th annual Wine Tasting Gala and Auction to benefit arts education efforts 7 p.m.-10 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, in the Farmer School of Business.
Proceeds from the event are used to fund outreach activities such as workshops, master classes, coffee houses and discussions with the visiting professional artists appearing in the Series. These events are provided for regional students and area community members at no cost to the participants. Last year, almost 2,500 students and community members from Miami University, Oxford, Hamilton, Middletown and Cincinnati participated in these free events.
This year’s event features a long list of wines from affordable to rare; a special “premium pours” section featuring bottles out of area wine collectors’ private cellars; and a variety of hors d’oeuvres provided by Kona Bistro. The silent auction includes weeklong getaways to Lake Lure, N.C., and to WorldMark Wine Country Clear Lake Resort, Calif., event tickets to Michael Bublé, Wynton Marsalis, and Carrie Underwood, and many other items.
Check the Performing Arts Series Web site at www.muohio.edu/performingArtsSeries for information on auction items and other wine tasting details.
Reserved lounge seating for four is offered this year, including sparkling wine and chocolates, for $296.
Tickets for general admission to the wine tasting gala are $59 per person and are available at the box office in Shriver Center, 529-3200 or at www.muohio.edu/PerformingArtsSeries.
The event is sponsored by Kona Bistro.
