Lei Kerr
Lei Kerr has been granted tenure and promoted to associate professor of chemical and paper engineering. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Wuhan Institute of Technology, China, in 1997 and received her Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Florida in Gainesville in 2004. Since she joined Miami in 2004, Kerr has developed her research projects focusing on the utilization of renewable energy from the sun. She has received external research grants from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Her work at Miami has been published in Journal of Chemical Physics Letters, Crystal Growth & Design, Solar Energy Materials and Solar Cells, International Journal of Thermal Physics, Journal of Applied Physics, Journal of Solid State Chemistry and Thin Solid Films. She also has a number of proceeding papers published in IEEE Photovoltaic Specialist Conferences and Materials Research Society Meetings. She is the recipient of the 2008 School of Engineering and Applied Science Dennis & Bridgette Orwig Family Outstanding Research Award.
