Michael Carrafiello

Michael Carrafiello
Michael Carrafiello has been promoted to professor of history. He joined the Miami Hamilton faculty in 1998 and became the first director of The Michael J. Colligan History Project in 2000. He holds graduate degrees from Vanderbilt University. His publications include Robert Parsons and English Catholicism, 1580-1610 (1998), and articles in The Historical Journal, The Catholic Historical Review and Recusant History. Recently, Carrafiello’s scholarship has encompassed antebellum America and the presidency of James Buchanan. He has been PI or co-PI on five U.S. Department of Education grants, including four Teaching American History Grants, serving six southwestern Ohio school districts. He was also directly involved in the creation of both the Saturday Select and Bachelor of Integrative Studies programs on Miami’s regional campuses. He serves as associate dean for academic affairs on the Hamilton campus, having previously held the positions of assistant dean and coordinator of social sciences.
