The 14th annual Miami Holiday Project seeks donations to purchase holiday gifts for children, ages newborn to 18, who are under the protective supervision of the court in private or foster care homes in Butler and Preble counties. The project has helped serve more than 1,200 children over the past 13 years.
Coordinated by Miami University’s classified personnel advisory committee (CPAC) and the unclassified personnel advisory committee (UPAC), the project’s goal is to raise $12,000 to support about 175 children in Butler and Preble counties. The children come from homes where they have experienced abuse, neglect or abandonment and have no other resource for help during the holiday season. All money must be raised by 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2.
Volunteers are needed for shopping day on Saturday, Dec. 4. The money raised will be used to buy children both essential clothing items and toys. Volunteers also are needed to wrap gifts 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, through Thursday, Dec. 9, at the Phillips Hall racquetball courts.
