Miami Opera presents "Cinderella" Nov. 11-13


Miami University Opera presents
The department of music will present the opera production "Cinderella," by Jules Massenet, directed by Nicholas Muni and conducted by Ricardo Averbach, at 7:30 p.m., Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 11-13, in Hall Auditorium.

Muni is visiting stage director and show designer for set, lighting and supertitles. He is the distinguished Artist-in-Residence at the University of Cincinnati - College Conservatory of Music and has directed over two hundred productions in North America, Europe, and Australia. He served as artistic director for the Cincinnati Opera from 1996 to 2005.

Averbach is associate professor of music and the conductor of the Miami University Symphony Orchestra. Miami’s opera program is directed by Mari Opatz-Muni.

“Cendrillon (Cinderella)” by Massenet first premiered at Paris’s Opéra-Comique in 1899. Miami’s production of the classic fairy tale is sung in English with live orchestra. It will be performed with two actors for alternate performances for several of the lead roles.
